Let's take a walk...

  barcelona, a charming city,

you'll just love it

barcelonacharms:  Let's take a walk...

El Born, and up or down Las Ramblas

A charming old neighborhood called "El Born". A mixture of medieval Catalan history and trendy bars, art boutiques and fashion designers.
From El Born we can follow what’s left of the Roman walls through the old part of the city  down to the port where the statue of Columbus is and then up Las Ramblas.

Or we can go towards  Plaza Sant   Jaume, where the official government buildings are, and combine with The Gothic Quarter and then go down Las Ramblas to Port Vell.

Suggestion: If you end at the bottom of Las Ramblas, go to Maremagnum   for lunch and get on a   "Golondrina" boat and have a ride   around the port or Barcelona   coast line.

Photo: Street of El Born which is part of one of the quarters of Ciutat Vella (the old city)  called La Ribera (the Shore in Catalan). It's a popular place for expats.

Suggestion: If you end going up Las Ramblas, visit and have lunch in la Boquería Market.

Photo: Las Ramblas is a long promenade that goes all the way down to the old port and the statue of Colon. It has several parts with diferent activities: flowers, small animals, artists and some days a bunch of craft stands at the end.

"Hi Sandra,

We just got back a few days ago from the rest of our trip.  We look back with very fond memories about you and the wonderful arrangements you made for us while we were in Barcelona.  Not only did you show us exactly what we had requested and made it so interesting, but you were very kind to help us figure out how to go around on our own (which I don't think most guides would have bothered with)  You can rest assured if anyone asks me what to do and see in Barcelona, I will tell them I have just the person they need in Barcelona.   Sincerely,  Maureen & Herman Roszler  Los Angeles California (February 17th 2009)"
